Those cartridges are made for killing trolls. They are not powerful enough for a human. A deer requires a larger rifle

First off .223/5.56 is not my first pick for a deer round but it does work. Loads of deer have been and are shot yearly in FL with 22 centerfire on up. The bullet type and placement makes all the difference. Partition soft point and neck shots are preferred but with soft points a body shot can be taken if the rifle and shooter are capable enough. I am not familiar with 300 blackout or many of the other ones for the AR15 but most with heavier bullets will have less effective accurate range than .223/5.56 simply due to the limited pressure generated by the .223/5.56 parent case capacity. Yes a 20 inch rifle length would be better with higher muzzle velocity and muzzle energy than a 16 inch mid length or carbine length. AR10s are a different story. I prefer a dedicated deer round like a .25-06 or secondly a .270. Thanks for sharing.
