In today's market, it seems like many manufacturer's over hype new cartridges to sell to the average consumer. Yet leading bullet manufacturers like Berger, Hornady, Nosler, Sierra are giving us hand loaders the ability to push limits and revive possibilities. Yeah those new PRC cartridges and magnum calibers are yielding high numbers making cartridges like the .308 Winchester look obsolete. But that extra powder and pressure comes with a cost in barrel life.
The .308 Winchester in my opinion still reigns king for the average budget minded long range shooter. With the plethora of new high ballistic bullets available and advance smokeless powders, the good ol' .308 Winchester can be pushed beyond what many didn't think can happen long ago.

Will this little 168gr ELD make it to one mile? Transonic velocities are just over 1300 yards. Not to mention if it does make it to the target, itll be just under 1,000 FPS. What kind of power will it still have? Is there any precision still left at these distances? And lastly will a 208gr ELD better suit this distance?
