Armalite AR-180 Piece Of History By Eugene Stoner

I don't normally do videos like this but who could pass on the idea of getting to use and make a video on one of the classics. This is an original AR-180 built by Armalite in their Costa Mesa, California shop. Now when this was designed Armalite was not set up for production of these so only about 4,100 were made by Armalite. The rest were made by Howa and Sterling.

In all just over 21,000 were made in total. The Eugene Stoner design saw some more love in the early 2000's when it was re released but did not do so well. I was also a star in the original Terminator movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger, a personal favorite of mine. This is an early piston driven variant and it performs like a piston driven system should. Although the magazines are tough to come by one can make modern Colt or other mags work with them with a bit of work. The stamped steel design is a far cry from the machine work of today with its exposed welds and crude attachments. However, it is a pleasure to hold and use on the range.
