Dana 70HD Differential I.D. Tag and Bill of Material Number (BoMN) Location
This Dana 70HD rear axle assembly came out of a 1976 E-350 cargo van, if my memory serves me correct. The GVWR was 10,000 lb. The capacity of this axle is 7400 lb. (my stock Dana 60 has a capacity of 5300 lb.) which is a 2100 lb increase and it has 35 spline axles. The disadvantage to this rear 70 assembly is differential choices are limited. I may decide to use this particular Dana 70 with a limited slip diff and Riddler diff cover and utilize an OX Locker in the front built into a Dana 60. Both will have chromoly axles. I do not off-road the way I used to so a limited slip rear/ Ox Locker front would be practical however as time goes by I am keeping my options open until I am ready to pull the trigger.
