This was my first deer taken with a bow. I've been gun hunting for almost 30 years. The deer was between 25-30 yards away and heard my bow and was able to duck and turn, therefore dodging my arrow. Fortunately he came back in about 5 minutes and I got another shot at him.
This is a white tail spike weighing about 70 pounds. We were concentrating on culls.
Hunting from feeders is very common in Texas. Texas is almost all privately owned so there is very little public land to hunt on. Land owners lease out hunting rights on pieces of property so there is really no way for a hunter to roam the country side in search of the animal. The only other option is to set up a feeder and wait for them to come to you. Sorry if your ethics don't agree with bait hunting such as this.
