Mossberg 500 Combo Review

A quick review of the Mossberg 500 Field/Security Combo from Big 5. Including some range shooting and a tabletop review. Followed by a spread comparison between barrels at 30 feet (10 yards) and I saved the best for last (outdoor shooting). Comes with a 18.5" cylinder bore barrel and a 28" modified choke barrel. I forgot to mention that you want to slide the action/bolt/slide about halfway back to swap out barrels so you don't accidentally bang the barrel against the bolt. I also didn't mention that when using 3" shells, the capacity changes to 4 + 1. This shotgun also comes drilled and tapped to accept a rear sight or rail, like a picatinny rail or ghost ring sight. Comes with a blued finish.

Shooting at the indoor range was #7 1/2 birdshot. All outdoor shooting was done with the 28" vent ribbed modified choke barrel. It was extremely windy at the outdoor location, sorry about the wind noise. Clay Pigeon shooting was done with #7 1/2 birdshot (Remington, Winchester, Federal). Pineapples were smitten with 1oz foster slugs (Remington). The ballistic head was found at the shooting location and shot with 00 Buck (Fiocchi). The ballistic head was filled with one whole orange for the first and last shots. For the middle shot it had a full soda can for a brain (I think the oranges explode better).

In many shooting scenes I have an elastic Allen buttstock shell holder on the buttstock. I bought it from Amazon.com for around $6. I like this better than a side saddle because you don't need tools to remove/install it.
