Too darn hot to shoot. Yep I said it. 96 and zero wind. So many thermals and the mirage effect was making the targets look like waving Ghost.
Steve was able get some great hits at 500 with his Ruger presision 6.5 creedmoor. I, not so much.
Did the math and my numbers should have been close. First shots were high left and made an adjustment and got on steel after a few shots. We were spotting for each other and I traded places with steve and got his dial in quickly and he was making some great hits and groups. We took a break because the sweat was rolling off us. Air you can wear with 59% humidity. Temps kept going up and hit 103 so we deicided to finish up. I got back on my ruger and couldn't hit crap. Hits were high left/then right...then left. Made adjustments but nothing would stick. Mirage effect was the worst I've seen but I can blame it on that. Ran about 20 rounds through and not getting any better.
Steve got up and was struggling as well. By now I think our toe nail had begun to sweat so we called it a day.
Was going to put my camera on my spotting scope but the heat signatures were so bad I could never get a focus.
Just got home and pulled the bolt and my rifle is very dirty and I think has some copper fouling (place excuse here). Checked the scope rings and notice that the front one was just snug and not torqued which could have caused my issues (second excuse placed here).
The mirage problem was tough. Going out tomorrow at dusk andd try again. Might get a chance to shoot a couple of hogs too.
Oh well. Nice sitting in my recliner with the ac down to 67 and dog in lap.
