The Ransom Rest is definitely the Gold Standard for the handgun rest. IMO, I would either go with a Ransom Rest or, if I could not afford a Ransom, I would stick with a dependable sandbag rest setup. After seeing what the market offers I can only attest to the Ransom as being the best way to improve over the sandbag rest. I say this is because there are a few bench rests on the market that remove human error, however, they tend to add mechanical error and that defeats the entire purpose of the rest.
