JR welcome back. I used to shoot nothing but steel case in my first AR until I started reloading for 223. Never had issue with it and shot thousands of rounds through it. It is straight BS that some say it will damage the gun. It is steel but it is soft steel, way softer than the barrel and BCG. Just don’t leave a round in the chamber if the gun is hot. Like if you take a break during shooting for a while, make sure you clear the chamber. The lacquer can melt and when the gun cools the round can stick in the chamber.
