Because my accounts and such seem to keep getting taken down - I'll update contact info using headers. Disregard contact info in the comments, as it may be bad. Link should all be good - leave a comment or ping me if a link to files isn't working.

In this video, I touch on all the components of my rifling setup. Between this video (the most important part of the tutorial), the tech writeup (still a work in progress), and a later video where I'll show the process in action, other folks (it could be you!) can replicate my results.

Do you think it would be beneficial to cut only one groove at a time, then rotate the mandrel? I guess kind of like ram/sinker edm...

Have you tried a stainless barrel yet?

No, but ECM works on stainless.

Cool AF! Always thought EDM would make great barrels, never heard of ECM.

EDM barrels would be very hard. ECM is where it's at.

@IvanTheTroll: Wouldn't coolant flow control depth of hardness?

I am assuming that SS would cut more slowly with ECM.

So if ECM were used, control of depth is achievable and a finishing button could finish?

I wonder if the electrode holder ought not travel as conventional tooling? Maybe control taper...

Perhaps a slow linear motion device?

Mimic the rifling button. Have barrel concentric with electrodes and one traveling at determined rate and helix... VF controlled lead screw.

@bullmtl: No, SS has a higher valency than 40CR.

@bullmtl: This process is entirely static. There are no moving tools.
