An English Classic Built in America
The collection of Norman R. Blank centers around high-end European arms, but this gorgeous flintlock from the renowned James Haslett of Baltimore rightly earned a place of its own courtesy of its wonderful silver furniture, numerous gold accents, detailed engraving and arguably the era's finest American craftsmanship.
Featured in numerous books, the gun is noticeably European in its style, but carries distinctly American design cues, such as a Grand Union flag, a "stars & stripes" US flag with 19 stars, and emblazed twice in gold stating its "Baltimore" origins.
