Crimping keeps the bullet from re-positioning in the cartridge case and it gives the shooter a uniform starting pressure. But, the question is, why does the reloader crimp for the auto-loading rifle?
In being new to the AR-15, I have learned to re-engage the charging handle and to not leave it extended. Thanks Neil Harris for the info. Go Marines!!!God bless and thanks for watching. Highboy
