ATN ThOR-HD 384 1.25-5x Thermal Rifle Scope

In General

This is a "passive" thermal scope, needing no exterior IR illumination. In this video, it is not yet mounted on a rifle. I took it down to a local park at around 11pm and used it as a hand-held monocular, just to get a feel for its capability. That’s why the image is so shaky. The people canoodling next to their car in the parking lot had no idea I was even there.

This model is the lower end of the ThOR-HD line of scopes, having the lowest magnification range of 1.25-5X....which is of no account to me as it will be mounted on a .300 Blackout SBR for night hunting of hogs, and targets will be well within effective range of the scope. For demonstration purposes, the trees in the furthest distance are about 200 yards away. This scope claims detection at 625 meters (yep, that’s something hot over there), recognition at 280 meters (yep, that’s a hog, not my neighbor's cow), and identification at 170 meters (yep, that’s a boar, not a sow).

Although there are multiple color pallets included, and you can create your own, it’s going to come down to between "black hot" and "white hot" for me....this video is "black hot". I’m going to have to take it hog hunting to decide for sure which I prefer.
