Buffer Tube Breaks After 20 Years Part II

In General

Thanx for checking out Part II.

My FN buffer tube gave out after twenty years. I could not get another FN tube, so I substituted with one from Anderson Manufacturing.

Here's the link to the screwdriver set I used in the video:

Wow, I had to watch both videos before commenting. I have never heard of the tube breaking like that before. May have just been bad metallurgy. Could of had a hairline crack for awhile. That was unreal. Luckily it happened when it did instead of when you were shooting. That could have been a bad day for sure. Good info. Folks may want to inspect theirs from time to time.

I put the rifle together in 2000. Last year the stock was loose , so I had to replace a detent spring and reattach it. There's a round recess in the stock that lines up with the receiver. It is slightly ovaled. That may be causing it to rattle a little, but in my opinion it is serviceable for now. I may replace the entire stock when finances come back to normal. Although it mostly sits in the safe, have shot the gun over the past 20 years and taken in out of state. It has been on several moves and in and out of different safes. All of that banging around could have contributed to it also.
