Starting a fire is one of the most basic survival tools you can have. Making it easy to start a fire is even better. I will show you step by step how to make cheap, inexpensive fire starters that will last forever and they can be made from trash around your house. Start with a tuna fish or cat food size can. Clean it out and dry it. Cut corrugated card board into strips that are no taller than the can itself. Next coil those strips and insert them inside the can building up the outside working towards the middle. Once you have the can completely filled with card board, fill the can with wax about 3/4 full. Using old candles that typically get thrown away are the best to use since you are now recycling all of the components making up this fire starter.

These cans will ac like canned heat or Sterno cans and can be use over and over. Just blow them out once you no longer need their flame and reuse another time. One tuna fish sized can should burn for hours before the cardboard and wax are completely used up.
