Depending on the year of mfg. the Silver Bear ammo will either have a nickel plating or Zinc plating.

@NC Gun Guy : Not sure when they dropped the use of Nickel plated cases and went to Zinc. Last time I bought steel case ammo was around ten years ago and it was Zinc then so it probably been awhile.

This is an interesting topic for me. I have not usually had an issue like yours but... I have an odd 9mm Luger that you would say at first glance is a 380 acp. I saved it for about a year now and I plan to do a video on it at some point. I have a caliper and this one is shorter than the average 9mm Luger. I am glad I keep all our rounds separate or is would easily be confused with a 380 acp. Peace To All!

Is it perhaps chambered in 9 x 18mm vice 9x 19mm or 9mm. The 9x18 is very close to a 9 mm but somewhere in between 380 and 9 mm.

@NC Gun Guy : 9 x 18 Mak. is a straight wall case vs. 9 mm which is a tapered case. The 9 x 18 Mak. case is basically 1 mm shorter than the 9 mm case and uses a bullet dia. between .363 to .365 depending on who mfg. the bullets or if your using cast lead. I make all my 9 x 18 case out of once fired 9 mm brass and cast all my own bullets for the cartridge.
