Luftwaffe Drilling: A Luxury Survival Rifle

Germany permitted itself many luxuries during World War 2. While other countries emphasized austerity and/or high rate of production, Germany seldom sacrificed in the realm of well finished weapons.

This disparity is clearly emphasized in the respective survival rifles issued to American and Luftwaffe pilots. Americans received a bare bones, stamped survival rifle, while their German Luftwaffe counterparts received luxurious drillings that would not have been out of place on even the finest of guided hunts.
