I do not believe a sling is necessary, but I do not like to have a long gun without one. I learned how to use one and I do almost every time I fire or transport a long gun. There are those new to firearms who do not know different techniques yet, or since the long gun came without a sling from the manufacturer, just assume it doesn't need one. It doesn't , but the additional influence of poor training from CRACKER JACK® Box instructors doesn't help either. Like with everything else in the firearms community, unless it is a law or a safety procedure, it comes down to preference. Good review.
