MFT Minimalist Stock :: 3lb AR Build pt.1 :: Musty Yeti

Tim and myself are trying to build a 3 pound AR15. Now this is no easy task and will require some unique parts. This video is part one in reaching the goal of a super lightweight AR. Today I'm opening up the Mission First Tactical Minimalist Stock. This thing is what they say it is, a super lightweight buttstock. As you can see in the video it beats out the standard stocks in the market. Now you guys might think that a few ounces don't matter, but ounces add up. If we are going to reach our goal we have to shave off ounces wherever we can, no matter how few they are. This stock weighs in at 5.8 ounces, which is very light. It has an angled non-slip rubberized buttpad which allows for faster presentation, even with body armor. One nice feature of the Minimalist stock is it has a Quick Detach Sling mounting point, which works great for ambidextrous shooters. Also it is made in the USA. Now I must say this is the tightest fitting stock I've ever seen. This commercial buttstock is tighter than my Mil Spec buttstock. I'm used to commercial stocks having looser tolerances, but that is not the case with the Minimalist. I'm not exaggerating when I say this thing is almost impossible to adjust. I have to say the color on the Minimalist stock is a huge MISS. They advertise the color as a Flat Dark Earth, but this is FAR from being dark. If you are looking for a stock to match the Magpul FDE, the Minimalist is not for you. My other complaint with the Mission First Tactical is their website. Like I said in the video, they need to work on making their website more consistent. You have to work at navigating to find both the commercial and mil spec option. All and all m first impressions of this stock are good. It seems very sturdy, very lightweight, and has a few extra features. Thanks for watching.
