Mossberg 500 .410

In General

The .410 pump action shotgun from Mossberg is a delight to shoot and light to carry. This shotgun is a pleasure to use for hunting bushy tails and cotton tails alike. While it's light payload requires it's user to close the distance on game, it has plenty of power for clean kills inside 25 yards. Some hunters that I know personally have taken deer with the 1/4 ounce slugs with these guns, although I think they are a bit light and better suited to coyote sized game I can see where they would get the job done in tight spaces.

From Mossberg's frequently aksed questions page on shooting slugs:
"Can I shoot slugs or buckshot through a "smoothbore" field barrel with Accu-Choke™ tubes? (500/505/535/9200/88/930 models)

Yes, and with sabots or rifled slugs, the more "open" the choke tube, the better the accuracy ("Improved Cylinder" recommended.) The "full" or "modified" choke tubes are preferred for buckshot loads."
