Rep. Matt Windschitl Exposes Fake Pro-Gun Scam in Iowa

You've probably heard of Iowa Gun Owners and Aaron Dorr, but you may not know that IGO is merely the Iowa based franchise of a national scam calling itself NAGR and run by infamous direct mail con artist Dudley Brown.

On March 22, while passing a bill to finally legalize suppressors, Iowa Representative Matt Windschitl used his time on the floor of the Iowa House of Representatives to expose this scam to all truth-seeking Iowans.

Representative Windschitl is a Marine and a staunch conservative whose family operates a gun business and he has a long track record of sponsoring, writing, promoting and voting for pro-2A legislation including Stand Your Ground, which together with IFC and NRA was successfully passed with a party line vote in the Iowa House in 2012, but killed by the anti-gun Senate leadership who refuse to allow SYG and similar polarizing legislation to be voted on in the Senate chambers. Rep. Windschitl is the staunchest defender of your Second Amendment rights in either the Iowa House or Senate, and his pro-gun credentials are on the table for all to see.

And yet, IGO and Aaron Dorr have repeatedly attacked Rep. Windschitl, claiming he is disingenuous and is conspiring to help the careers of anti-gunners. This is a bald faced lie.

But back to the scam. Not a cent that has ever been donated to IGO has ever been used to achieve a noteworthy result. Aaron Dorr takes credit for things that real pro-gun groups like Iowa Firearms Coalition (IFC), NRA and American Suppressor Association (ASA) have accomplished. All while actively fighting the exact things Iowa Gun Owners takes credit for.

This group - and others like it in other states under the same National Association for Gun Rights umbrella - are for-profit scams whose goal isn't to achieve pro-gun legislation but rather to simply make money. And they do make a lot of money, because they dupe a lot of people.

Their two main ways of spreading their con involve turning donations over to anti-gun Facebook in order to buy ads and likes on their Facebook page, and stealing or buying list of emails and physical addresses. If you've ever gotten an email from them unsolicited, this is how it happened.

They also show up to gun shows here in Iowa to spread their con. Some gun show organizers have gotten wise to their con artistry - IGO and Aaron Dorr are banned from the biggest gun show in Iowa, Trade Show Productions gun shows at the State Fairgrounds, which is why you never see them there.

The truth is, IGO doesn't want any good 2A legislation to pass. If and when it does because of the work of other groups - most notably Iowa Firearms Coaltion - it undermines the fear they attempt to spread which in turn reduces their income through donations - and remember, they exist to make money, not improve your rights.

IFC on the other hand has furthering your rights as it's sole cause, and has done exponentially more with far less monetary resources thanks to being 100% volunteer. While IGO has *never* gotten even a simple subcommittee (three legislators) to vote on one of it's bills, IFC has successfully lobbied or and gotten passed several bills over the years - including the recent suppressor legalization bill - the results of which you can check out for yourself here: http://iowafc.org/victories/
