Ruger SR1911, 45 AUTO, TALO, Video 8, Bushing Function and Removal

In this video I need to make several corrections.

First, I mentioned that the low set sights on the M1911A1 are not an important issue because it is a close quarters combat pistol. In correctness the word critical is a better choice of word as opposed to not important. Sights along with a crisp trigger are always important but can be less critical in CQB!

Second, if the bushing is difficult to pivot then you need to use the bushing wrench that came with your Ruger SR1911.

Third, I reference the bushing as being oblong towards the rear of the sleeve. That is incorrect. The bushing is of a larger I.D. to the rear as the front is a smaller I.D. Therefore you cannot effectively determine bushing tightness by moving the rear portion of the bushing in an oblong motion.

Lastly, I failed to mention the Ruger SR1911 has a much thicker bushing than the original 1911 design. The original bushings were known to crack towards the bottom due to the stress applied upon it. Ruger eliminated this issue.

God bless and thanks for watching. Highboy
