Today we are going to do a quick field strip of the Smith & Wesson 422 22r pistol. This little pistol from S&W is a bit unique and there are a couple of things you should know to look out for during routine maintenance.

sadly, i have never experienced that issue or know of anyone with a 422 that has ever mentioned it. so anything i would suggest would be pure speculation. 22 firearms tend to be shot a lot, spring wear, so my guess would obviously be the magazine spring. but it may not be a weak spring. if you have not cleaned the magazine really well, do that. try to get a little grease in there as well and see what happens. there may be a burr or some grit causing an issue.

I had a Smith 422. Mine was a shorty four inch. Never had a problem with it jamming. Funky take down but a great little target pistol. Try loading only nine and see if it will cycle them instead of ten. Also check the feed lips on the mag for wear to see if they come in contact with the slide/bolt slowing the slide down. You might need to do a little filing or sanding on the lips at the wear area if the lips are too high. Best of luck with it.
