The Gunner 18" Barrel by Faxon Firearms (Product Showcase Video)

When I decided I wanted to build my first SPR, it didnt take long to decide on which Barrel manufacturer to contact. I own quite a few AR's that are built around Faxon Firearms Barrels. They all vary in Length, and there is even a .308 barrel in the mix. I have a few 16 inch barrels, 11", 10.5", 20" .308, and a couple of 14.5" barrels on previous builds. All of them have performed as expected, and in some cases better (specifically the .308 Barrel).

Once the decision was made on manufacturer, the choice of which barrel to buy was next, and it isnt a simple decision. I was sure I wanted 18 inches, but what profile? The team at Faxon made the choice for me, and suggested their new "Gunner" 18 inch barrel for my project. They explained what the gunner Profile was, and what they considered the benefits of this format. Based on previous experiences, I was sold. With Credit Card in Hand, I was ready to place my order, but they refused to take my money and sent me a barrel for evaluation. I took the money I was going to spend and purchased a 10.5 inch barrel from them anyway.

We plan to put this barrel through its paces, and we thought some 100 yard shooting was a great way to start and set a baseline at the same time. We have distnaces out to 900 Yards available at the Big 3 East Training Center, so I think we will be able to push this barrel and gun to its limits.
