People have claimed that the AR15/M16 has constantly evolved thus keeping it modern. However, if you look back at early AR15's you'll see they evolved very quickly due to experiences with the M16 in Vietnam and by the 1970's the rifles were mostly unchanged internally through modern day rifles like the A4 or M4.
