Here it is: The Road Warrior Tribute Truck.
.
I've thought about cutting the top off this FJ for at least a decade. I committed to doing it "someday" when it retired from being the the "Tour Truck" in 2015. #coronacrisis provided the opportunity to actually do it.
I bought this FJ new in Las Vegas new during SHOT Show 2008, it's got over 230,000 miles on it and it's been back and forth across the country more times than I can remember. It's been from The Keys to Alaska and on scores of ranges all around America... and anyone who knows how I treat my vehicles knows it kind of a miracle that it's survived.
This project could never have happened over the last three weeks without the guidance & assistance of @Chuckusina and the free use of his shop!
In the process of doing this, I've learned a bunch of stuff about fabrication, welding and vehicle construction in general. It's been a ton of fun and a great distraction from all the craziness that's been going on.
Still a few things to do (proper latch for tailgate, new seatbelts, new speakers..), but today was the first day that it was "complete" in regard to the design elements and structure. It is ironic that took a pandemic to bring my Apocalypse Truck to fruition!
