Umarex Gauntlet: Regulator Testing and Adjusting

In General

Another segment of my Umarex Gauntlet series. This video walks you through how to test and adjust your regulator to achieve the performance the Gauntlet promised out of the box. I noticed that after I posted the video my maths were off by 0.010. The total amount of shim in my Gauntlet went from the stock 0.010 to 0.030. I added 0.020, not 0.030. I believe that If I did add the 0.030 my regulator would have gone to 1.5K.

Just remember, less shim equals less pressure more shim equals higher pressure. My rifle with a 0.010 was only delivering 1065 PSI (1.06K after a final shim thickness of 0.030 I am getting 1325 PSI (1.3K)

If after you build a solid reliable 2" gauge regulator tester like I did and your tank pressure is 3000 PSI and your gauge is showing 1050 or less you may need to adjust that regulators shims.

You can always call Ray @ Ninja Paintball in the USA at 815-477-0007 ext 306. Just have your information handy of how you performed the test and what your test equipment is.

Below are links to the shims I bought from McMaster-Carr which you can also order from Ninja Paintball (The Regulator Manufacturer)

[To build the Regulator Tester]
I used my BSPP threaded gauge in the Slide check’s NPT threads using layers of Teflon tape to ensure a seal. I torqued the connection and ran with it as I anticipated the max pressure of 1250PSI and this technique would not be recommended for extreme pressures.

Again it is important to be clear, BSPP and NPT are not compatible and I applied the “any port in a storm” rule in my application but I have provided the adapter link for a proper assembly.
