Water Jug Ballistics Test of 45 Colt +P, 300 gr, Hornady XTP Handload

I shot a stout 45 Colt +P, into the water jugs to test bullet performance. This hand loaded ammo is sometimes called a Ruger only load, but I shoot them safely and with careful load development out of my Winchester 1892 and my various Rossi 92 rifles. My goal was to test expansion and penetration of the 300 Grain Hornady XTP bullet. I used my Winchester 1892 cloan made by Rossi, and the handload consisted of Starline brass, Hornady XTP bullets weighing 300 Grains, and a stout load of Winchester 296 Powder over a CCI 350 primer. The load clocked 1590 fps out of this rifle when I last chronographed it. The expanded bullet weighed 270 grains.
