AR Pistol Project: What Caliber? 9mm, 5.56, or 300BLK?
So we are starting the AR pistol project and I want to hear your thoughts on caliber when it comes to a short barrel application (SBR or pistol). Should I go 9mm, 5.56, 300 Blackout, or is there another caliber I'm missing and I should look at? I look forward to hearing all your thoughts.

I would also like to see a 9mm build
I’ve built several ARs from a 20” rifle in 556, several 16” carbines in 556, 223 Wylde and 300 AAC Blackout. The 300 won’t work in all AR mags, they nose dive in some and won’t cycle. Also in a pistol they are best as subsonic and you need a can or they have cycling issues. Like you, I won’t pay the tax for a right I have so I don’t have a can. I have only built one pistol. It is a 223 Wylde, 10.5” barrel stainless barrel (I like stainless and I like the 223 Wylde) Anderson upper and lower, shockwave brace, A2 flash hider, Sightmark red dot, no irons. Awesome rig. By the way the A2 flash hider worked best on my pistol. It directs the concussion and gasses forward instead of in your face like some others I tried. Keep an eye on my channel, I’m working on a AR series. That said my vote is to see you do 9mm conversation build out of that lower you have. My “spare” lower is itching to be something and I have enough the others, but don’t have a 9mm would like to see a build on one before I commit LOL. Good luck.
