If you're pulled over when carrying legally in that state, of course, here are some tips from a police officer.

I make $100h while I'm traveling the world. Last week I worked by my laptop in Rome, Monti Carlo and finally Paris…This week I'm back in the USA. All I do are easy tasks from this one cool site. check it out,
:) AND GOOD LUCK.:)

Not to pick on you, but the very moment the officer walks to the window they should be informed that you are carrying. She waited until he asked after being handed needed documents
I travel in shall inform states and have no problem with having to do so. Now here is the rub, an officer wants to disarm me. I do not wish or condone violence on police. At the point of an officer "feeling " the need to relieve me of my property under the implied threat of violence I would peacefully comply. If after that point any harm would befall the officer, idk if it is a meteor, deer strke, hit and run, driveby etc, the only help the officer would likely receive from me is a 911 call of officer down. I would not touch the officer. Heartless @$$ I know, now for the reason. He called in he had an armed individual and a call comes in the officer is injured and his buddies are coming in hot. Do the maths, old school will work no need for common core.
As a retired officer, i can say without a doubt, a traffic stop is one where officers alertness is high. Especially on initial contact. I and fellow officers in my precinct respected law abiding citizens that did this method everytime. It allowed us to ease our anxiety as law abiding citizens that provides their ccw was not hiding anything. The advice that she gave is spot on.
Hiding a gun in a traffic stop can be a sign your trying to hide more and causes a heart rate to increase when an officer spots it without being informed.
I have personally informed officers in LA, TX, AZ, MS, GA, FL, SC, WI, CO, NV, TN, MI, IL, MN, HI, and CA
Only place that was a little inconvenience was in San Diego, CA. C.H.P. pulled me over and i did the same as in the video. The officer had me exit the vehicle, and he took the gun, for officer safety. (Here i informed him of where i came from, my 22 hour drive, badge number, etc as he asked me to exit the vehicle, really wasnt warranted, also i was in uniform as i drove straight 22 hours from New Orleans to San Diego) I had to follow him to the station where they did a serial check on the gun and contacted my police department at New Orleans to confirm I was an officer. (Yes they have no professional courtesy whatsoever) but the LT came in and apologized after 20min. I was going to see my family 3 months after hurricane Katrina, so i was not very happy at this specific officer (rookie). BTW I hate California, so don't plan to return as my family all moved out of it, thank the lord.
But i was able to leave unscathed and that is the point.
No other state has ever given me an issue, ever. Many commended me on the notification and let me go with a warning except texas, but i deserved that speeding ticket.
Anyone with abgun who obeys police should not have one. They clearly do not understand what weapons are for. They are for getting rid of little devils and there police
So true. SC laws are show and tell. Or maybe the other way around. Lol but two people in a unknown situation YOU need to pull up your grownup pants and learn to listen. And live. Great video. The cops answer to allowing the driver to handle the firearm (Unloading) is not bright. Gun on the seat, exit the vehicle, on to the sidewalk or away from traffic. On person, call and wait for backup.Period.
My family and I will be traveling by car. Good to know. Thank you!
Good information
I would do the same where I live (Visalia CA, Tulare County). I would not inform the officer if I was in, say, San Francisco.
Very good information
Great way to do that!
I live in PA and have a CCW license. If I get pulled over I will tell the officer while hand over my documents. Everyone goes home safe that way. You can buy a new gun but not a new life.
My gosh this is buffering so badly .. Is it very high quality or what ?
Only volunteer that information if your state requires it.
A guy was pulled over & he told the cop he had a CCL & was carrying. When he reached for his wallet the cop shot him because he thought he was reaching for his gun. Dead. I believe this was last year & his girlfriend was a witness. When you tell a cop "I have a gun" how will they interpret that? "Back off or I'll shoot?" I'm not required to mention my CCL in my state & my instructor said don't mention it unless you're asked. It's no more relevant than saying "Officer I think you should know that I just ate a Big Mac & I shop at Sears." Has nothing to do with why you're pulled over.
A traffic stop is a very dangerous interaction , listen and respond accordingly to make a happy ending a Harm's Way interaction is a life-and-death situation that can go south but sheer suspicion
Unless being pulled over for a gun-related violation (e.g. you just shot up your ex'es house), WHY would you even mention you were carrying? If you're in a state that requires notification, turn it over...otherwise STFU!
Don’t try that shit in the Democratic People’s Republic of New Jersey. They love to make headline examples out of Law abiding citizens
Was at the beach leaving a club one night, was not carrying, was pulled, didn't give any info. She came back with a warning ticket and asked if l was carrying. Of course l responded 'no'... and that was the end of it.. This was in Atlantic beach, NC, notorious for cops pulling you and giving tickets for everything under the sun.. l believe me having a ccw prompted her to just give me a warning.. that and she was digging my beard.. lol..
Looks like many who are here hate rights. So willing to give them up for nothing but trouble in return.
I have let cops know, using the same method...just hand them the license...several times. I was not ticketed and was thanked for my honesty. Unlike another commentor here, I'm not paranoid the cops are going to steal from me or cause other problems because I carry. I have notified cops in PA, FL and WI....without a single problem.
Fucking cops don't even know how to operate their firearms. Give them a different model and they'll likely shoot you in the head with it. Remember...smart people cannot be cops.
How does she know that she is not a prohibited person? She doesn't. Perhaps you were convicted of a felony w/o your knowing. Girl is an idiot. See my firearm? Right. If they could just ask and steal your gun that would be a hoot. Follow this instruction: only give a government official/employee bullets.
Perhaps if stopped someone could use the sneaky pete holster since it would not appear be threatening to hand over the handgun that fully enclosed in the sneaky pete like it would to unholster a pistol from a regular holster.
Someone may fear for the officer's safety if they see someone unholstering and they may not know that the citizen is complying with the orders of the officer which is why it may be safer for the officer to disarm preferably holstered the entire time to guard against an negligent discharge (ND). Also unloading the firearm as suggested increases the risk of ND exponentially which threatens everyones safety due to risk injury to self or others including from a ricochet. If the person has an ND while unloading for the officer he or she could potentially be mistakenly shot for simply complying with order.
Nice job and good advice. I was given very similar advice by a couple of officers I know. Keep up the good work!
I understand the advice, but what about addressing a violation of the 4th amendment if an officer takes possession of your property w/o probable cause.
Just great common sense. Thank you.
