Fires at Bannerman Castle over the years

Talking about the explosions and fires at the Bannerman Castle on Pollepel Island

Barges were floated in, and filled with rocks until they sunk, the process was repeated until they reached the surface then the
breakwater was capped with a concrete walkway

They used the wood from the barges to make the floors in the castle, so when they burned, they burned hot & fast

Flames were said to shoot 100 feet into the air


The Bannerman Surplus business was housed on his Island warehouses. He sold from the Bannermans Catalogue of Military Goods, a published catalog as thick as a phone book with surplus guns, swords and other accessories since 1865
