Hello, Sheepdogs welcome to another video brought to you by TampaCarry.com. My name is Ryan and In this video, I will be discussing how you can legally bring a firearm on an airplane. I know it sounds sketchy but it's totally legal.
As many of you know I carry my firearm concealed 100% of the time I'm legally allowed to. That includes when I'm traveling to another state. Surprisingly it's a pretty simple process, however, it does require research and preplanning.
It's important to begin the process by researching three specific areas. First is the TSA policy for transporting a firearm by air. Second is to understand your airline's policy for traveling with a firearm which may be stricter then what the TSA requires. Finally, you need to understand the laws of your final destination. First, let's discuss the TSA policy for transporting a firearm.
The firearm must be unloaded and placed into a hard plastic or metal case that cannot be easily pried open. The case must be locked with a combination or key lock. It's important to note that you must have locks for each place your gun case allows them.
Firearm magazines, loaded or unloaded, and ammunition must be included with the hard case containing your unloaded firearm. Section 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations 175.10 states that the ammunition must be packed in the original packaging.

Next, you need to research the firearm transportation policies for your airline. Sometimes your airlines' policies will be stricter than the TSA guidelines. Ill include a link to quickly access each airlines firearm policy in the description below.
Finally, you need to research the firearms and ammunition laws of your final destination. If you have a Florida concealed weapons permit and your traveling to a reciprocal state you know that the process will be easy. However, if your final decision is an Anti-American state you need to exercise a lot of caution. The red states have the strictest firearms laws in the nation and they love issuing weapons violation fines. No matter which state your traveling to make sure you complete your research, don't wing it, you need to know the laws before your trip begins.

If your traveling outside of the United States you must research the firearm importation laws of the country you are going to visit as well as the U.S. Customs and Border Protection guidelines for the temporary exportation of a firearm.

The big day is hear. Your prepared and ready for your trip. When you arrive at the airport you must immediately declare your firearm to your airline or TSA personnel, whichever comes first. Upon declaration, you will be brought into a secured room so that your firearm and ammunition can be inspected by TSA. Once the firearm passes inspection the TSA personnel will take possession of your bag and you can board your plane. As I'm sure you can imagine it's important to give yourself extra time so you don't miss your flight. After your flight, you will pick up your luggage from the baggage service office. Here they will verify your ID and release the firearm to you.
As you can see traveling with a firearm is easy as long as you prepared. I hope this video has helped simplify the process of traveling with a firearm.
