Recently, President Donald J. Trump, under immense pressure from the vocal anti-gun community, following the mass shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada, charged the Department of Justice, and subsequently the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to work towards an outright ban of bump stock type devices. The claim is such devices allow a shooter of a semi-automatic firearm to initiate a continuous firing cycle with a single pull of the trigger, thus creating a workaround of the National Firearms Act.
This cause picked up more steam as Chris Cox, the National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action’s Executive Director, published a joint statement with Wayne Lapierre, the NRA’s Executive Vice President, that many believe gave the anti-gun community the confidence to continue the push for the ban. On Tuesday, December 18, 2018, Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker announced that the Department of Justice had amended the regulations of the ATF, clarifying that bump stocks now fall within the definition of “machine gun” under federal law.
Immediately, Erich Pratt, the Executive Director of Gun Owners of America, announced GOA would file a lawsuit against the ATF and the Department of Justice to seek an injunction protecting gun owners from the arbitrary ban. Upon learning of Gun Owners of America’s plan to stand up to the federal government and file this lawsuit, I reached out to GOA and secured a one-on-one, live interview with Erich Pratt to be held on Guns & Gadgets this Wednesday evening, January 9, 2019, at 6:00PM, EST.
We will be discussing the bump stock ban lawsuit as well as Republican sponsored gun control such as the National Extreme Risk Protection Order and Violence Prevention Act submitted by Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL). This bill is a National Red Flag Bill that is truly a gun confiscation bill that not only circumvents Due-Process and violates our 4th Amendment right against unreasonable searches and seizures, 2nd Amendment right to bear arms, as well as our right to confront our accuser, among others, but looks to reward states that enact Red Flag Laws with grants and other funding. Not to mention that President Trump’s own Federal Commission on School Safety released a report recommending states enact Red Flag Laws and even laid the template out towards fruition. I still do not understand how these Publicly Tax Payer "Politicians" can try to pass so-called "anti-gun", Second Amendment "laws" that go AGAINST the Constitution. Can these "politicians" be IMPEACHED for abdecating their OATH of OFFICE.
In the State of Maryland in Montgomery County, a LAW abiding man was murdered due to the RED LINE CONFISCATION law by a cop.
Are there any gun rights organizations out there looking into the veterans administration policy of stripping people of their 2nd, 4th, 5th, & 6th amendment rights. Without any mental health evaluation by a mental health professional. They don't even require a Dr. to make the recomendation if your primary care person is a nurse practitioner & ask's if you have anyone that helps you with shopping or paying your bills not due to a mentalhealth issue but a physical disability like not being able to walk. They can declare the veteran financially incompetent & it is then the veterans responsibility to respond within a very short time frame to disagree, then the veteran has to gather evidence to prove they are competent. They can then be required to attend a hearing at the regional VA which can be 6 or more hours away just to maybe be able to keep the rights they sacrificed their bodies to protect. I was astounded when I learned this was happening to tens of thousands of veterans annually & no one is really talking about it. I'm shocked that I havent heard any organizations on the pro 2nd amendment side speaking up on this issue.
